Introduction
In this installation guide we have provided step by step instructions to remove the OEM intake then install the 27WON Short Ram Intake (SRI) on an 11th Gen Civic Sport or LX
Advisory:
- Working under the vehicle requires a safe and sturdy location for the vehicle to sit on jackstands
- The engine will be hot after recent vehicle operation. Allow the vehicle to cool or use a fan to cool the engine bay before working on the vehicle
-

This guide describes a process to install your new Short Ram Intake (SRI) in a 2022+ Honda Civic
-
The SRI comes partially assembled to make install easier. Components can be loosened and adjusted if needed to dial in fitment but we recommend the SRI is installed as it comes first
-
-
-
Open the hood to gain access to the intake air box
-
Unplug the connector for MAF sensor using your fingers
-
Using needle nose pliers pinch the backside of the wire clip and push it through the hole as shown
-
Push the MAF sensor wiring to the side as shown
-
-
-
Use a 10mm socket and 3/8" ratchet to remove the two (2) bolts securing the rubber shroud
-
Rubber shroud should be able to freely pull off of the intake inlet. Remove and set aside
-
-
-
Use a 10mm socket and 3/8" ratchet to remove the two (2) bolts securing the intake bracket
-
Use a 3/8" drive ratchet, a long extension, and a 10mm socket to remove two (2) bolts that hold the intake in place
-
-
-
Using a 5.5mm socket and a 3/8" ratchet loosen the clamps on the airbox lid, and the throttle body
-
Using pliers pinch the clamp securing the hard line in the intake tube and slide clamp up
-
Pull the hardline out of the intake tube
-
You can disconnect other rubber connections attached to the hardline to allow hardline more movement
-
This can be a PITA and you can get hurt when it breaks loose. Use Caution
-
-
-
Next, the airbox lid and intake tube will be removed together
-
Pop the two (2) clips securing the airbox lid using your fingers
-
Pull the rubber factory intake tube off of the throttle body
-
The intake tube can get stuck to the throttle body, be careful not to rip the tube or injure yourself in the process
-
Once the factory tube is free from the throttle body, the tube and airbox lid will easily come out of the engine bay
-
-
-
The OE intake should be free to remove now and only attached to the lower sound dampener
-
Wiggle the airbox and pull it up at the same time to loosen the airbox from the lower sound dampener
-
This does not come apart easily the first time and may feel like you're breaking the airbox. This can be a PITA and you can get hurt when it breaks loose. Use Caution
-
Remove intake from the car
-
OPTIONAL: You can remove the lower sound dampener. This process is not described here
-
-
-
Using a small Phillips screwdriver, remove both screws securing MAF sensor to OE Airbox Lid
-
Use care when handling this sensor. It should not be dropped, abused, or otherwise gotten dirty
-
Gently install MAF Sensor into the 27Won MAF Housing as shown using the provided socket cap screws and a 3mm hex wrench or bit
-
You should be able to press MAF sensor into the bore by hand. Do so evenly
-
You can use a little motor oil on the o-ring if necessary
-
Attach throttle body silicone to the MAF housing in the orientation shown, with the provided 76-84 T-bolt clamp
-
Do not tighten the clamp at this time as you will have to rotate the assembly later for proper fitment
-
-
-
Place the SRI on the throttle body with the provided 67-75mm T-bolt clamp
-
Reinstall the hard breather line into the SRI and tighten the provided worm drive clamp with a flat head screw driver
-
Rotating the silicone on the throttle body can make installation of the hard line much easier
-
A rotation issue here can cause the filter to sit too high or too low
-
Using a 3/8" ratchet, a 10mm socket, and the provided 67-75 T-bolt clamp securely attach the SRI to the throttle body as shown
-
-
-
Remove both M6 nuts as shown. There are washers under the nuts. Those remain in place
-
Remove bolt from ECU bracket as shown with 3/8" ratchet, extension and 10mm socket
-
Set bracket over clamp nuts and finger tighten the same two M6 nuts back in place
-
-
-
Pull the SRI bracket on top of ECU bracket and finger tighten bolt as shown
-
Use provided clamp to securely attach throttle body silicone to MAF housing as shown
-
Do not overtighten clamps at the MAF. MAF warpage can occur which could impact Fuel Trims (LTFT). Use just enough force to keep MAF from coming out of the silicone. This is a setting of 2-4 on most drivers
-
Using a 3/8" ratchet and 10mm socket fully tighten ECU mounting bolt
-
Bracket should fit well and throttle body silicone should not be collapsing. If either is not the case, try rotating the throttle body silicone up at the throttle body
-
Square up bracket at clamp end and secure nuts
-
-
-
Make sure clearance between loom. If necessary rotate the throttle body silicone up at the throttle body
-
-
-
Reconnect MAF sensor plug
-
With SRI installed properly, there should be some give in the MAF wiring
-
Make sure the plug fully seats on sensor
-
Optional: Remove wire clip using wire cutters or a small flat head screw driver
-
-
-
Using a panel clip tool remove eight (8) plastic clips from the intake shroud on the hood
-
You might find it easier to gently pull the rubber off the clips then remove the clips from the hood. In this way, they can be reused
-
Remove intake shroud for proper SRI hood clearance
-
-
-
You'll notice many new sounds with the SRI installed. You can hear the intake sucking air and releasing pressure. This is normal, most people love these sounds and it's part of the reason people install SRIs
-
SRIs can result in higher intake air temperatures. 27WON does not recommend running a SRI in the following scenarios
-
In the summer in very hot places
-
Regular, heavy stop and go driving for long periods of time
-
-
-
This completes the installation of your 27WON Short Ram Intake
