27W-6-272 Overflow Tank - 11th Gen Civic SI and A-Spec Integra

These instructions were written using a 2022 Honda Civic Si and a 2023 A-spec Integra

Check your service manual for coolant replacement interval to make sure your coolant does not need to be changed. Coolant should not be old/depleted. Old coolant can result in corrosion of various engine components including the coolant tank

Open the hood to access the OEM coolant reservoir

Use your hand to pull the OE coolant line out of the plastic clip as shown

Pull the OE reservoir straight up and out of the engine bay

This may take a little bit of effort the first time. You will feel a "pop" when the tank is free from the mounting bracket

Set the coolant tank aside in a place it will not flip over and leak. If the engine is cold you can set it between the radiator and the turbocharger as shown

To ensure a clean install, you will need to drain the OE coolant reservoir into another container

If it has been more than 40,000-60,000 miles since your last coolant flush we recommend using new coolant to fill your 27WON Coolant tank

Once the reservoir is completely empty use your hand to pull the OE coolant hose off of the OE reservoir

You may need to twist the line to break it free from the reservoir

Remove the OE reservoir from the engine bay

Bend the OE coolant hose in half and push it into the plastic radiator shroud as shown

This will prevent the line from leaking, and keep it out of your way!

Use a 10mm socket, a 12" extension, and a 3/8" drive ratchet to remove the two bolts securing the OE bracket

Remove the OE bracket from the engine bay as shown. The bolts will be reused. The bracket will not be reused

Integra owners should skip to the next step

The lower bracket is only used for Si applications and will be installed in this area shown

A side view is shown to make it a bit easier to locate the mounting hole for the bracket

The bracket should slip behind the liner as shown

Hand thread (1) M6 flange bolt through the bracket and into the chassis

Use a 10mm socket and a 3/8" drive ratchet to torque the bolt securing the bracket to the chassis snug

Note the position of the bracket here. Do not let the bracket twist while fastening snug

"torque to snug" is defined as 1/4 to 1/2 more rotation after setting resistance is felt

"torque to snug" is defined as 1/4 to 1/2 more rotation after setting resistance is felt

The provided 27WON bracket will mount in the orientation shown

Thread the two OE bracket bolts through the 27WON bracket into the chassis as shown

With the both bolts threaded into the chassis, use a 10mm box end wrench to torque both bolts to snug

The 27WON coolant tank will go into the engine bay in the orientation shown

Carefully insert the 27WON coolant tank into the engine bay as shown

You may need to rotate the coolant tank as you lower it into the engine bay to clear the back side of the headlight, especially in the Integra (shown)

Thread the provided M6x12mm bolt through the mounting hole on the front side of the coolant tank into the 27WON mounting bracket as shown

Thread the provided M6x12mm bolt through the mounting hole on the back side of the coolant tank into the chassis as shown

Integra shown. Si similar, but will use provided M6 flange nut to secure this mounting location. Snug flange nut against M6 bolt

Thread the provided M6x12mm bolt through the mounting hole on the drivers side of the coolant tank into the 27WON bracket as shown

Use a 10mm socket, a 12" extension, and a 3/8" drive ratchet to torque all three bolts securing the 27WON coolant tank to snug

Optional: Using your fingers, or a pair of needle nose pliers, press in the two plastic tabs shown and remove the OE line clip as shown

Route the OE coolant hose underneath the AC hard line towards the coolant tank as shown

Press the coolant hose over the coolant tank barb fitting as shown

Keep an eye out for any coolant spills while filling the tank and promptly clean them up

Add new coolant to the reservoir to the bottom to middle of the sight glass. If you are reusing your old coolant then proceed to the next step

If you are reusing your coolant, the OE reservoir holds enough coolant to be just barely visible through the 27WON sight glass. This is fine. As long as you can see coolant on the sight glass there is enough in the tank

If you have spare coolant then top off your tank until the coolant is in the middle of the sight glass

It's best not to fill the tank past the middle of the sight glass. An overfilled tank can result in splashing that allows coolant to seep from the cap

When installing your 27WON coolant tank cap you will notice the breather hole on the coolant tank and a raised seal on the cap. These allow your tank to vent just like the OE tank

It's normal that a small amount of coolant appear in this area

Neither the OE tank or the 27WON tank should pressurize during use

Install your 27WON coolant tank cap by hand to finish up the install

This completes the installation of your 27WON Performance Coolant Tank
